I’m going to the City of Lights for a couple of nights bright and early in the morning. Judging by the following list, it may seem like I’m travelling seriously heavy; but the majority of stuff is sample sized, and so there’s honestly not that much at all. I’m bringing three (very small) cosmetic bags; one for skincare/hair, one for make-up and one (pencil-case sized!) for make-up brushes. The two matching cases are Betsy Johnson bags I picked up a few years ago in Miami. The rose-gold clutch style I’m not particularly feeling, (it was a No7 gift-with-purchase), but it fits the bill for a weekend away as it’s pretty compact.
In the main vanity case, I’m bringing a 30ml tube of ‘System Professional by Wella Smoothen Shampoo’, and a 50ml bottle of ‘Sebastian Hydre Conditioner’. This particular shampoo I’ve never used before, so I’m hoping it’s not too stripping. I hate hotel shampoos and so always bring my own. Sebastian Hydre on the other hand I love! I’ve used this conditioner before and it’s super hydrating on my frizzy mane. My hair is a nightmare, and requires many, many products to tame it’s unruly ways, but I’m limiting myself to just two for the weekend – a 27ml tin of Sebastian ‘Whipped Creme’, and a paper-thin 5ml pack of Nuxe’s ‘Huile Prodigieuse’ dry oil. My trusty Tangle Teezer is an obvious must bring also.
Then on to medicinals – ibuprofen, motilium, solpadeine, antihistamines, dioralyte, eye drops and Compeed blister plasters. If I know I’m going to be drinking wine by the bottle, I always bring dioralyte with me. They’re great for hangovers (as is the solpadeine, ibuprofen and motilium!), and great for general dehydration if you’ve been out and about in the sunshine all day. Compeed plasters are a must for me also – I’ve the most blister-prone feet in the world.
I picked up this SlimSonic electric toothbrush last week and am loving it, it’s so compact. I’ve also thrown a nail file in, some face wipes (these one’s are Soap and glory) which are so handy when on the go all day.
The cosmetic case has a zipped compartment on the inside of the lid, into which I’ve stuffed a million cotton pads, ear buds, hair grips and hair ties. I’ve a 50ml La Roche Posay Factor 50+ sunscreen, and 50mls Roger and Gallet body moisturiser and shower gel.
Hand Sanitizers are an obvious must – This ‘EO’ spray is one of my favourites, it’s peppermint scented which is a welcome change from the usual nail varnish remover fragranced ones. I picked this up on an online haul from iherb.com. For my lips I’m bringing a L’Occitane 15ml intensive lip balm.
Then onto skincare – Dermalogica do travel friendly giftsets also which is basically what I’m using for the weekend – Dermalogica Precleanse (30ml) which is amazing for removing make-up, their Special Cleansing Gel, and their Skin Smoothing Cream. I’m also bringing my Hydraluron serum as it gives the silkiest finish ever. My desert island skincare essential is currently Dermalogica’s Age Reversal Eye Complex.
I’m also packing a Glamglow sample sachet of their ‘Supermud’, which I’ll use to dry up a breakout if i get any over the weekend. Finally I’m also bringing a dinky little 15g sample of Glamglow’s ‘Thirstymud’, which I’m currently loving as a night cream.
Make-up wise, I always struggle with packing light. I’m a serial palette hoarder, but find them too bulky when travelling, and so have decided to go without any of my trusty Naked palettes for once.
I’m packing my Dermalogica skin perfect primer, which has SPF30 built in. Foundation wise i’m going with Chanel Perfection Lumiere. Then I’ve got Maybelline Fit Me concealer as a general allrounder; under eye, blemishes etc.
For mascara I’m going with Benefit’s They’re Real (sample sized) which I love, and I can’t go anywhere without Benefit’s Push Up mascara either. Then I’ve got Soap and glory’s Glow All Out highlighter, and Solar Powder bronzer. I’ve only recently got into Soap and Glory cosmetics, having been a long time fan of their toiletries. These two are incredibly pigmented, they’re fab.
As I’m going to be lost without my Urban Decay palettes, I’m bringing this Mac quad shadow palette I haven’t used in years. I rediscovered it today and it actually has a fabulous taupe shade, and a matte brown which I’m going to use on my brows. For blush, i’m bringing Soap and Glory’s Peach Party, which will double as eyeshadows if needed as well.
I recently purchased this Vichy compact and am seriously impressed with it. Vichy relaunched their make-up line this season with colours more suited to Irish skin tones. Until this compact I was never a fan, as their shades were all totally orange on me – but this one matches my fair skin perfectly. Then I’ve a few lip products thrown in for good measure, NYX butter gloss in creme brûlée which I love, a NYX lip liner in mauve, and an Isadora lipstick in ‘Vivid Pink’ which I found today in my stash and thought was nice and summery!
What do you guys think? Am I bringing enough?!
