Disclaimer: I’m a diehard Olsen fan – I’d still happily watch So Little Time/It Takes Two/New York Minute on a hangover day… And remember their 7th Heaven cameo? Amazing! Being one year younger than Mary-Kate and Ashley, I grew up watching them with fangirl rose tinted eyes and will always follow their careers (Same goes for the likes of Mischa Barton, and Britney – however low they go!)…
But The Olsens just have it, they’re a total enigma yet incredibly successful, stylish, intelligent and talented. And dirty, dirty rich. I love the Mary-Kate/Sarkozy coupling (beyond ridic!), I love their hair, I love every piece in their Elizabeth and James line.
And so when they launched their fragrance, I obviously wanted in. The Nirvana fragrances are available as either ‘Nirvana Black’ or ‘Nirvana White’… Both sound delish, but Nirvana Black stood out more to me, due to its vanilla notes.
It’s available only from Sephora US (as far as I know) unless you want to order it via Ebay/Amazon. Not wanting to throw eighty dollah billz on a fragrance I hadn’t smelled, I tested the waters first with the roller ball edition. I picked this up via the Sephora Favourites Beauty Closet, which by the by was probably the best present to myself I’ve EVER purchased.
And it was love at first inhale. I’m obsessed. Apparently the Olsens spent two years developing the ‘sensual’ scent, and it’s totally worth the process…. Nirvana Black is a dark, woody scent – quite masculine with sandalwood undertones, but then sweetened with light notes of vanilla and violet. It’s warm and wintery but at the same time unique – It’s quite androgynous and could easily be worn as an aftershave. To compare it with a more well known, easy to sample scent I’d say it’s along the lines of Tom Ford Oud Wood. Mmmmmmm.
Now that our Indian summer has offically died a death, I’ve said my goodbyes to my summer fragrances… Actually make that fragrance – I lived in Wood Sage and Sea Salt for the past six months – and made room for this beauty. The packaging is beautiful – exactly what you’d expect from Mary-Kate and Ashley – clean lines, textured, black and gold, simple, elegant…. Rich!
I’d love to know if any of you guys have tried Nirvana White? I’m so tempted to invest! Nirvana Black is now also available (via Sephora Us) as a dry shampoo, hand cream, solid perfume and body oil. Just sayin’…
And if you’re a fellow Olsenite, you’ll love seeing how Mary-Kate designed her NYC interiors here! (Swoon).
