I feel so betrayed by my hair at the mo. The post partum hair loss has finally started to regrow, but does the Lord give with both hands? No he does not – it’s growing back more or less GREY. And SO curly. And growing up instead of down, you know?
First world problem 101: My hair is currently everything I want it not to be. First world problem 102: I’m too lazy to actually style said mane every day to proactively solve Problem 101.
I digress. I’ve been trialling a country mile’s worth of stuff over the past six months, and have recently stumbled upon a salon brand that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, and has actually been making a difference.
I stumbled across Alter Ego, an Italian professional haircare brand stocked by Kreative Hair Salon Supplies at Christmas, and have been trialling (and loving) the range since. I stocked up on a few bits from the BeBlonde line as well as some bits their ‘Miracle Repair’ range. Kreative Salon Supplies are based in Roscommon (yams) but you can contact them via their instagram account for your nearest stockist…
The BeBlonde Illuminating Shampoo is really gentle on your hair yet managed to make my never-ever shiny hair look somewhat, possibly glossy. No mean feat for a bleached, damaged, decrepit head of hair like mine. If you’re looking for a toning blonde shampoo this won’t do the trick (although Alter Ego’s purple shampoo is next on my list to buy). However if you’re trying to restore some health back into porous ponytails then I highly recommend. Likewise re: the BeBlonde Illuminating Conditioner. I rarely find a conditioner on its own enough to eh, condition my hair – I’m more of a half a tub of hair mask kinda gal, BUT again, my hair felt noticeably softer using the conditioner alone. I’ve already repurchased both of these – highly recommend.
I’ve been using the ‘Miracle Repair Leave-In Treatment’ too which is basically a more affordable version of the much hyped ‘It’s a 10 Potion’ that everyone and their mother was obsessed with a few year’s ago. So if you’re into that kinda thing, there’s your dupe.
Another Alter Ego product worth a mention is the BeBlonde Pure Illuminating Spray. A little goes a very long way with this one – it’s a dry oil with the teensiest finest shimmering particles to faux the glow. It smells beautiful – that high-end hair salon fragrance, and manages to tame frizz without weighing down your hair.
Have you come across Alter Ego? Any holy grail recommendations for me to try?! What will fix my baby hairs that are grey and afro?!
F*cking greys! #ThisIsThirty
