How wonderfully decadent – a serum for your bod’!
The No 7 Protect and Perfect Intense Advanced Moisturising Body Serum (haaardly a mouthful) promises to visibly improve signs of ageing in two weeks (as in; firmer, smoother skin). Last month I challenged said serum to a fortnight of consistent moisturising. So… Did it tranform my wintery skin into that of a glowing Hadid?!
With the goal of shedding my sandpaper arms pre Marbz, I slathered my skin in the stuff at least once daily, if not twice (focusing mainly on the old décolletage, arms, butt and thighs). Truth be told I’m not too stressed about the signs of ageing on my body just yet, HOWEVER the promises of firmer skin always perks me up! By firmer do they mean more-toned-without-having-to-lower-chocolate-intake/start-doing-weights?! Yes, yes that’s exactly what they mean…
Love the scent; it’s lightly fragranced and smells… expensive. Overall it feels quite cooling on the skin, and dries in seconds. My skin feels like silk after letting it (v quickly) sink in, and there’s zero greasy residue.
Active ingredients wise, the biggie is Matrixyl (a protein which stimulates skin repair and collagen synthesis), along with Hyaluronic Acid and Argan Oil (both synonymous with hydration).
So far as smoothing and moisturising, its effects were instant – ’tis a gorgeous product and perfect for those who detest heavyweight lotions and potions on their skin. As for ‘firming’, I didn’t notice too much of a difference truth be told. Obviously it was never going to make me drop a dress size, but I can’t say my skin felt ‘tighter’ long term. My skin did however look great – the backs of my arms/thighs which generally crave hydration felt silky smooth, and the cooling effect of the serum provides a short term ‘tightened’ effect if nothing else!
A little goes a very long way with this – I’m always v. v. generous when slathering on body creams, but with this it was literally hard work to make a dent in the 200ml tube.
Would I repurchase?
Overall it is a fabulous body moisturiser – although I’m not quite sold on what differentiates it as a serum with the exception of it’s texture. At €34.50 it’s pretty expensive for a (relatively) ‘drugstore’ brand. Side note: Am I the only one who has No7 forever engrained in their brain as far more affordable than it actually is?!
Body serums aren’t quite mainstream just yet, and so this offering’s competitors are pretty much all high end (and far more spendy than €35). If you suffer with dehydrated, dry or sensitive skin, or if you despise thick, heavy duty body moisturisers, this serum may just be your little saviour!
With a Boots No7 €7.50 off voucher I’d happily repurchase, (especially for use before a sun holiday or the likes). My advise is to keep an eye out for a Boots 3 for 2, or those No7 gift set that float around come Valentines/Mother’s Day/Christmas etc etc…
Now take a mental note to check it out next time you’ve a wallet full of No7 vouchers, with zero notion what to splurge on! xo
