A recent jaunt to Boots to repurchase some L’oreal Infallible Matte Foundation resulted in a (standard ) 3 for 2 L’oreal stock up…
Unneccessary Add On Number One: L’oreal Infallible Fixing Mist.
Unneccessary Add On Number Two: L’oreal Glam Bronze Cushion Soleil – And it’s with this little Betty I’m in love!
Side Note: Infallible Matte is easily my favourite ‘drugstore’ foundation – I’ll happily repurchase ’til the cows come home. It’s perfect for the clammy weather that’s currently in it; long lasting, doesn’t cake and despite the ‘matte’ title, leaves a (bit of a) dewy glow. L’oreal Infallible Mist however is totes irrelevant; it doesn’t add to the longevity of my makeup at all at all.
But back to the bronze. The pricetag attached (€22 for 14g) is a tad steep for L’oreal, no?! I do love me a good liquid bronzer though, and such formulations tend to run more pricey than that of their powder siblings. The whole ‘cushion’ craze that’s hitting the cosmetic shelves at the moment is a bit irrelevant in my opinion – I haven’t found a cushion foundation more worthy than it’s oldskool liquid version yet. But coloured cushions (as in bronzers/blushers) have me all the way intrigued.
Packaging wise, I’m loving it – it’s compact, has a decent mirror (that remains clean thanks to lack of powder) and v. important – shatterproof when in transit. It also comes with a sponge applicator, which truth be told I’ve yet to use. I’ve been applying it with a duo fibre brush. I’d imagine the sponge isn’t holy grail though.
As for the formula – love! It’s a breeze to apply; very subtle, very buildable and very blendable. The result – a natural, beachy glow. It’s perfect for dewy, summer vibes, being (relatively) long lasting and unlike powder, won’t result in the dreaded chalkface stripe. All you sensitive souls will be glad to know it’s fragrance free as well. Final verdict – I’m reaching for this daily at the mo… L’oreal you’ve played a blinder.
But wait, warning! – You won’t get much use out of this if you’ve dark skin. It comes only in the one (apparently universal) shade, which suits me down to the ground, but I can’t image you lucky tanned betches getting much wear. Definitely worth swatching in-store first for all y’all.
