Wanting to get in on the beauty box buzz, I finally signed up to a subscription service last week. For those not in the know, a beauty box is a monthly parcel delivered to your door, and packed with (generally) sample sized cosmetics and toiletries from various brands. The beauty of these is getting to try out new to the market products, whilst also trialling high end items before committing to the recommended retail price.
Originally I wanted a Stolzbox subscription, (looks amazing, google it!), but I figured for the same price I could get a full sized product of something I’ll definitely love. I decided to test the waters first with something a little more wallet friendly.
I then discovered the addictive site that is www.whichbeautyboxuk.com. After browsing the various reviews of the beauty parcels available, I settled on the Look Fantastic subscription. Jaina from the site recommended this particular brand to me, PLUS the majority of the other beauty boxes don’t ship to Ireland, making my limited decision all the easier!!
I paid €50 in total for a three month subscription, which also included a complimentary mystery gift. And so this morning my first Look Fantastic Beauty Box arrived. Without the complimentary gift though so I’m hoping that arrives separately (?? Fingers crossed!)…
It’s a beautifully presented parcel, featuring six products in total; with items from Ren, Nuxe, Korres, Murad, Label M, and Caudalie.
The product I’m most excited to try is the Murad Rapid Collagen Infusion. I received a 5ml sample, which I originally thought was a bit disappointing, but the full sized product is a mere 30mls, and retails for €90. This product promises to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in two hours, by promoting healthy collagen and hydration levels. I should get a week’s use out of the sample, so I’ll keep you posted on it’s efficacy…
It also comes with a discount code if you guys want to buy the full sized product from Look Fantastic online – quote MURADPLUMP at checkout to receive a full sized Murad Step 3 moisturiser Perfecting Day Cream for free.
Ren is a brand I love, and I’m delighted with the Ren Glycolactic Mask. I’ve used this before and found it fantastic for brightening up the skin. I received a 15ml tube – pretty decent. The full sized product is 50ml, and retails at €45. It aims to combat congestion, blackheads and blemishes whist reducing fine lines and wrinkles.
Label M is a hair care brand I’ve used on and off and always liked. The beauty box contains a 50ml bottle of Label M Shine Spray, which is pretty generous. I’ve long given up any aspirations for shiny hair – My hair is highlighted and naturally curly so shiny it ain’t. How and ever I’ll give this a go, and see if my skepticism proves unfounded. For a 125ml bottle of this, it’s €16.49 on Look Fantastic’ssubscription site at the moment.
Caudalie is a brand I’ve only recently dabbled with. I love French skincare though, they really know their stuff. I received a Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum (10ml) which promises to lighten, brighten and even the completion. Sounds good to me! The full sized bottle is 30ml and retails at €63.
Then there’s the 15ml Nuxe Mini Creme Prodigieuse moisturiser. I’ve used this particular cream before and loved it. It’s super moisturising with a non-greasy finish. Nuxe is a fabulous brand, I use their Huile Prodigieuse Dry Oil all the time. I was actually recently speaking to a Nuxe rep through work, who was telling me Nuxe is the beauty industry dupe for Creme de la Mer. Obviously she’s biased so I’m not quite sure how true that is! I do love Nuxe skincare though, and their infamous scent is only fabliss!
Finally I also got a 50ml Korres Aloe and Soapwort Shampoo. I’ve actually never heard of Korres until now, but I’m liking the sound of them – they’re a Greek homeopathic company, with all natural products. I like aloe in shampoos, and actually in all products in general, it’s great for hydration. It does contain sodium though which I try to avoid in shampoos, but it smells lovely and will be handy for a weekend away if nothing else!
So that’s everything covered!
Overall I’m impressed – I know from the whichbeautybox site the Look Fantastic beauty boxes normally contain a few full sized items, which this month it unfortunately doesn’t have. But I’m still happy enough, for around €17 a month it’s pretty impressive. The product sizes in general are great, they’re more travel sized than sample sized – enabling you to properly trial before you buy. I’m already looking forward to next month’s parcel!
