A particularly painful day’s work today (bloody Mondays) was improved ever so slightly with the knowledge that July’s edition of Look Fantastic’s Beauty Box was waiting patiently for me at home. I signed up to this beauty subscription service last month, and am loving the whole concept so far. To the people reading this who have no idea what I’m on about, a ‘Beauty Box’ is basically a goodie-bag of travel sized beauty products to play with, available from various companies (Look Fantastic, Birchbox, Glossybox etc) at minimal cost.
The July edition is pretty amaze, considering it costs the equivalent of a coffee, cake and magazine! As per usual, it arrived beautifully packaged in a sleek black box (which will most definitely be upcycled and reused). Inside are six dinky little items, none of which are duds (relief).
Firstly, theres a 40ml tube of Balance Me Pure Skin Face Wash. Side note – I love how the samples given are generally always enough to let you properly trial the product before committing to the full sized edition. 40ml for a cleanser is pretty decent, and is definitely enough for a long weekend away…
Balance Me is a brand i’ve tested out a few times – Although now that I think of it any of their products I own have been gift with purchases/magazines happenings. It’s a brand I’ve never seen in Irish pharmacies/department stores – As far as I know it’s available only online. Over the last year especially, I’ve gotten majorly into double cleansing twice daily – and am loving the long-term effects the extra cleansing step brings. One disadvantage to it though is I’m bombing through products like it ain’t no thing, and so I’m always on the lookout for less expensive dupes of my high end cleansers. The Balance Me range is very affordable, (at less than twenty euro for the full sized cleanser) and so once I use up my stash of skincare I’ll be investing (provided of course I like this little beauty!).
Next we have a Lord and Berry Nude Ultimate Lip Colour Pencil, which at first swatch is gorgeous! I am LOVING lip liner at the moment, and this shade is perfect – It’s a your-lips-but-better nude brownish Kylie Jenner vibe. Winning!
The hair product in this month’s edition is a sodium-free shampoo – of which I’m so grateful for. Anyone who has had a 12 Week/Brazilian Blow-dry type treatment done to their mane will know the pain and expense associated with tracking down shampoos sans sodium. Kebelo is a brand I’ve never heard of, but the Kebelo Clarifying Shampoo sounds amaze (from the blurb anyways!) – promising to detoxify and clarify your hair. Again it will be perfect for a mini-break as it’s a 50ml bottle; which will actually probably last quite a while as it’s intended use is once/twice monthly.
Then theres the cute little 10ml Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse dry oil, of which I easily have a million of these sample bottles floating around – But none will go to waste. I love this multi-purpose oil, in fact I blogged about it only last night in yesterday’s post.
Next there’s a Trilogy Everything Balm, of which I have owned and loved before. I’m loving the new 10ml pot as I’d been meaning to reinvest. It’s a one-size-fits-all tub of magic, akin to Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Cream perhaps. It can be used as pretty much anything – lip balm, night cream, or on sunburns, nappy rash… The list is endless. My boyfriend actually used to always rob this on me for his lips – it smells quite herbal (in a good way) as opposed to heavily fragranced which is probably why he always went for it.
And then finally we what is probably the star of the show – a 40ml bottle (extremely generous!) of Monu Firming Fiji Facial Oil. I’m all over facial oils at the moment, and whilst this is my first experience with the Monu brand, I’ve already decided to LOVE this. My skin can get quite dry, particularly if I’m hungover/tired/full of coffee which is more often than not. Hence I love an old facial oil before going to bed. Rosehip oil is renowned for it’s nourishing properties, but in the past I have hated it’s scent on my face.
This Monu facial oil has rosehip and patchouli blended throughout, but smells gorgeous – it has that typical ‘spa’ scent. Love it. Hopefully it won’t break me out. I’ll let you know my review of it (and everything else) once I’ve given them a fair go…
