Along with the rest of the world, brunching is my favourite. Or so I thought, until I experienced ‘drunching‘ last weekend.
Nope, this isn’t just a drunk brunch (ye big tick ye!) – It’s the Parisian food trend that has spread its wings to Ireland via The Marker Hotel, (at Dublin’s Docklands).
Drunching merges lunch with dinner menus, as opposed to brunch’s breakfast-come-lunch, and subsequently you’re left with a helluva lot more options than eggs or avocado.
I had scheduled in Sunday’s looong ass overdue catch up with a college pal for ‘Le Drunch at The Marker‘ weeks in advance. However through wonderful serendipity, I was contacted on Friday by the Gods of the universe offering two complimentary Le Drunch seats. Winning!
Upon being seated, the Cucumber and Elderflower Martini instantly appealed, and it/they went down a treat…
Sidenote: The cocktails at the Marker are insanely gorgeous (Click Here for their Beverage Menu), and on that one day a year when the sun decides to shine, there’s nowhere better than their rooftop bar.
Le Drunch’s menu does not hold back – There’s literally everything from oysters to pancakes and everything in between.
I was overwhelmed/hungover/indecisive, and let the (incredible) waiter choose my fate – Steak it was. (At 2pm – Ridic. All I did last weekend was eat and now I’m paying the price with my waistband digging in. But YOLO)…
The full Le Drunch menu is available to marvel over HERE!
Leonie went for the (slightly) healthier option of the NutriBurger with sweet potato fries….
Our food was divine – Everything tasted beyond delicious. The steak was cooked beyond perfection, and ditto to its accompanying mash – mouth-watering… As was my side of truffle fries (#NoFattyNo).
The Nutriburger was equally gorge – and pretty much another steak to be honest. (Definitely worth another reservation to binge on a full one!)
But it’s more than the food – Le Drunch has an amazing vibe, which is (probably) down to The Marker’s in-house DJ turning Sunday afternoons into extended Saturday nights. Combine this music with some gorgebag drinks, and there’s a very ‘on your holidays’ vibe about the place.
Four hours later we were still very much loving life. Dessert was a shared chocolate brownie (stunhun) washed down with more martinis.
I’m already booked in for a repeat performance later on in the month. Drunching is my new hobby and I intend to take it v SRSLY!
