Ahhhh L’Occitane… One of my first loves. And the more of their products I try, the deeper in love I fall. Some people’s bucket list involve Mount Everest, mine includes a stint at L’Occitane’s flagship spa in Provence (far more realistic). And so, with some hanging in Sorrento to do next month, I’ve been marinating in their Shea Butter Collection in the hopes that if it can’t at least melt away some flab, it’ll have my skin silky smooth in time for the beach.
This time of year we’re talking chapped lips, cracked hands, dry feet, sore noses. Hello Autumn. Hello shea – the one stop cure all elixir. L’Occitane’s shea butter line is synonymous with the brand, and includes it all; from shower oils to foot creams and everything in between. I feel like over the years I’ve tried everything at this stage, (at least in travel sizes if nothing else thanks to the ol’ advent calendars!).
The star product is probably its Shea Butter Hand Cream which wins gold at all the awards, and not without reason. It’s incredibly moisturising at 20% shea butter, yet never feels greasy. A little goes a long way and it’s (lightly) scented with ylang ylang and jasmine. Divine. If you’ve a job like mine where you’re washing your hands 24/7 then y’all gonna want this. I actually always recommend this to people for Secret Santa ideas too – always goes down a treat! (€10.50 for 30ml or €23 for 150ml).
In keeping with hand care, next up is the Shea Nail and Cuticle Oil – obsessed. (I showed this on my insta stories recently and it sounds like you are too). I only wish I knew about it in the run up to my wedding when my nails were in proverbial bits. At 30% shea butter, I noticed an improvement literally from the first application. The brush makes for zero-fuss use, and as a bonus it smells gorge too! (€15 for 7.5ml).
If your feet are in dire need of some TLC, you could do worse than slather them in some Shea Butter Foot Cream. Again, this lil gem is dripping in awards and I can see why – it leaves your feet with that luxe post-pedi feeling. It smells so gorgeous, but more importantly, actually does the trick. As well as being rich in shea (obvz), it contains lavender oil (antiseptic) and arnica (anti-inflammatory) making it a triple threat. (€24 for 150ml).
As for body care, I’ve been switching it up between the Ultra Light Body Cream and the Rich Body Cream. The texture of the Ultra Light Cream is just stunning – definitely investigate next time you’re at a L’Occitane counter (€36 for 200ml). The whipped mousse consistency melts into a balm on your skin – DIVINE. A bestseller for L’Occitane, it’s incredibly hydrating on your skin too – I can still feel it on my skin 24 hours after application. As for the Rich Body Cream – one layer alone was enough to rid my elbows and thighs of dry skin. Despite being 25% shea butter, it doesn’t feel greasy at all. Amazing. I’ll 100% be bringing it with me on honeymoon (€39 for 200ml).
If however, you’re too lazy for daily body moisturising then the Nourishing Shea Butter Shower Oil might be right up your street. This is stunning – any feeling of tightness in your skin will be melted away after use. It’s luxury in a bottle – a little drop is all you need for a nourishing film on your skin and you’re left smoother than a baby’s bum.(€21.50 for 250ml).
Next on my list of stuff to try is L’Occitane’s Shea Face Cleansing Oil – I’m literally itching to buy but forcing myself to make more dents in my bathroom stash first. However, any and all shopper’s remorse shall be wiped clean thanks to L’Occitane’s genuinely ethical sourcing and charity work (remember the Orbis Flying Hospital?))…
