In the few short weeks in which I’ve started blogging, I’ve absolutely adored it. In order to make my entries more consistent, I’ve set myself the challenge of daily blogging for the month of July…. And (unrelated to this challenge) with today being the first of the month, I of course had unrealistic goals of extreme proactively – (cray organisation to be done at home… Olympic-style workouts to be completed, all the usual).
But then my BFF from ‘home home’ phoned with plans to come up and hang in Dublin for the day. With the amazeballs sunshine that’s currently in it, we were to go swimming in Sandycove… And so up she rattles with her togs in tow, ready to brave the shores.
But we obvs needed some slow releasing carbs before our swim, and maybe a bottle of wine. Off we strolled to Monkstown for some sustainance before our serious dip in the ocean. After toing and froing between Avoca and Cafe Du Journal, the latter won and we dined alfresco in their gorgeous garden.
The staff provided complimentary Panama hats to the diners, which served us well in preventing us from overheating pre-swim. Post Cafe Du Journal, we strolled towards the seafront, only to be tempted in to Cinnamon en route, for a quick cup of coffee before our Forty Foot dive.
Après cappuccinos, my boyfriend phoned me, and having just finished work he decided to join us on our beachy swim vibes. (This suited us perfectly, seeing as we had forgotten to bring our swimming gear from my place.) But what about my poor boyfriend’s post-day’s work tummy?! Another slow releasing carb/wine/beer pitstop was in order. RIBA in Stillorgan to be exact…
Another feed later, and we obviously needed some food resting time before our sea session. It was getting on about now, with a not-so-fierce chill in the breeze. Hmmmm, definitely not a time to be risking pneumonia what with work in the morning. Perhaps a post work frolick in Sandycove tomorrow instead….
SRSLY though, is there anything more therapeutic than a day of nattering with a friend? My life may not be any more organised and I’ve missed the boat on the first-of-the-month productivity vibes, but the weight on my shoulders is a lot less heavy after a day of the LOLZ.
And this counts as a blog post, right?! So that’s the first daily blog post ticked!
