Autumnal Feels 🍁🍂🌰🎃

I’m not one for the tags usually, but I was tagged to do this in September by the lovely Catriona from Make Up Don’t Fake Up … and completely forgot about it ’til the gorgeous Rouge Riding Hood tagged me in it yesterday… So here goes: My ‘Fall’ traditions. Side note: When did Irish people start calling Autumn Fall?!

Favourite Autumn Lip Product…

Hands down Mac Lustre Plumful,(and I’m currently lining it with NYX Prune Liner)… I’m obsessed. Plumful takes a neutral enough looking rose/plum hue, and is my go-to at the moment. Although I love this shade year around to be honest, I don’t discriminate the seasons. I rarely brave a statement lip, so those ‘Your Lips But Better’ shades are my weakness.

I’m also all over the NYX liners these days, they’re amazing quality; It’s just a pity they’re such a bitch to get hold of at the mo in Ireland. Damn L’oreal rebranding them!

Favourite Autumn Nail Colour…

Just last week I cut the cord and got gel nails (again)… Even though I sort of hate gel/acrylics, and think the majority look like blades.

I’m going to give them a go for a few months though and see how I get on, as I’m extremely harsh on regular nail varnish; even the likes of Shellac tends to chip after a week. I went with a nude/mauve shade which isn’t exactly Autumnal, but it’s neutral enough for work. I do love burgundy shades though, and purples/plums. My refills will be darker and more fitting for the season; I’m loving the four hues pictured below!

Favourite Autumn Drink…

Hot Port – Delish. I love a hot whiskey as well but hot port rates far higher on the scale. After that, all the usual year-round beverages; wine, coffee, gin.

I also am drinking herbal teas to beat the band at the moment, I love peppermint and anything fruity. I’ve also rekindled my green tea intake with Twinings Salted Caramel Green Tea, which smells delicious. And right now as I type I’m drinking Dr. Stuart’s Throat Relief tea, which is (kind of!) like an non-alcoholic Hot Port – It’s a mix of cinnamon, liquorice, cloves and marshmallow – Very sweet, very Christmas spicey.

Favourite Candle…

With the exception of Christmas, I’m not the biggest fan of spice/food-scented candles, and so that leaves out all the generic Autumnal cinnamon/spiced apple vibes. Subsequently my candle stash tends to stay the same year-round…

I love vanilla fragrances, and anything fresh. When I’m feeling spendy, Jo Malone candles are my go-to. ‘Fresh Lime Blossom’ and ‘Wood Sage and Sea Salt’ are my favourites, although I’d happily take anything from her collection with open arms, food-smelling or not!

I also recently picked up a couple of the Nuxe candles, and they’re beautiful (and far more affordable), although they’re far too small. Value wise, you can’t compete with Yankee Candles, they fragrance a room super quickly and they’re always on offer! My favourite Yankee Candle scents are Vanilla Lime, Wedding Day, Lemon Lavender, Clean Cotton… The list is endless. They’re also doing a limited edition ‘Hazelnut Coffee’ fragrance which I need to get my hands on!

Favourite Make Up Look…

I don’t suddenly go cray with my makeup once the seasons change… SRSLY who actually does this?! The Irish climate is pretty standard year-round, it’s not like I’m frolicking in daisy dukes all July then eskimoing it up come December. BUT I do love a gold/brown smokey eye which I guess suits the Autumn season (My Naked 2 palette is my go-to)

I’m also obsessed with this look (above!) Tara O’Farrell did on the stunning Thalia Heffernan. I’m definitely going to try recreate this soon!

Favourite Autumn Accessory…

Scarves! I have ten million of them, and wear them all day long. (My favourites being anything from Zara, who just never get it wrong. And also a stunning Biba pashmina-type-scarf thing I bought a couple of years ago.)

Favourite Autumn Movie…

Any film set in Boston/NYC gets me all Fall-ed up… Think Good Will Hunting, You’ve Got Mail, When Harry Met Sally, Rushmore, Garden State… Love ’em all.

Hallowe’en wise, I love all the late eighties/early ninties classics; The Adams Family, Beetlejuice, Hocus Pocus, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Lost Boys…. I also love Sleepy Hollow, American Psycho, and the likes…

I’m actually so looking forward to the Bank Hol now, definitely booking in a duvet day and re-watching some of these!

Favourite Autumn TV Show…

I’ve just finished series one of Gotham, and was absolutely obsessed – I watched the whole series in about five seconds. If anyone has any Netflix suggestions to fill the void hit me up! I also did the same with Narcos in September, it’s amaze!

Favourite Autumn Clothing Item…

In September I wore a Chi-Chi London dress to a beautiful Wicklow wedding, which was very Autumnal; all burnt orange and plum flowers… I loved it! Other than that, ankle boots are a staple as soon as summer closes. I have a pair in every colour; black, grey, burgundy, navy, tan….

Favourite Hallowe’en Sweets…

Again I eat sweets all year around fml. Although I do associate toffee popcorn with Hallowe’en/Autumn, of which I adore. After that anything goes. Actually if you love toffee popcorn but are looking for a healthier alternative, I have recently become addicted to Sexy Pop: Pineapple and Habanero (155 cals a pack). No idea what the sexy is about either. It’s delicious though, very sweet and quite spicy but the combo is amaze! I’ve literally had a packet every day at work since September…

(I’ve literally just finished this pack now!)

Favourite Hallowe’en Costume…

I love fancy dress but hate it at Hallowe’en… It’s far too organised and ‘forced fun’ for my liking. And the Mean Girls rule reigns true:

But if I do fancy dress this year, I’m going as the Snapchat Rainbow Vomit Filter!

What is your favourite thing about Autumn…

Definitely the crisp air (provided it’s dry, obv) and the gorge scenery in Ireland. Also, comfort food. And the fact that salted caramel is in season. I also love Dublin in the Autumn/Winter (like this!) , and going for a drink in town after browsing the streets!
