When it comes to French skincare, I need zero enabling. I snapped up the Vichy Ideal Soleil After Sun Oil (€19 for 200ml) in oh, about two seconds once a dispensary technician recommended it on a day’s work in a Wicklow pharmacy.
I’m all about the ease of body oils in general – can’t be dealing with body balms and the likes. Vichy have marketed this as a ‘Double Usage After Sun’, in that it can be used in-shower on wet skin before rinsing off (the waste!), or as a normal moisturiser on dry skin for soothing hydration. I’ve been slathering it on post shower, and have fallen irrevocably in love.Ingredients wise we’re talking a lorra essential fatty acids (apricot kernel, echium, coriander, blackcurrant seed), plus shea oil – all of which are obvious hydration baes. It’s also paraben free and hypoallergenic (which bodes well for my sensitive pregnancy skin).
Now I can’t judge it’s sunburn healing powers – I can only dream of the luxury of sunburn at the mo. However, my skin is currently v. sensitive, and I’m finding this oil incredibly soothing on application. Basically, it’s fab – Highly, highly recommend.
Apparently it softens and nourishes the skin for 48 hours, but I honestly don’t think I’ve left it that long before reapplying. Which says it all really. (I can vouch for it’s moisturising abilities for a good 24 hours post application, if not 48!) The formula absorbs pretty quickly and leaves a subtle, dewy sheen on the skin. Also, it smells gorgeous; very lightly fragranced but ’tis a long lasting scent all the same!
The skin on my weary limbs tends to fall on the dry, dehydrated side of life. Thanks to this I no longer witness visible flakes of dry skin soaring through the air upon removing skinny jeans. TMI?! Also, a little goes a very long way, making the RRP all the more justifiable.
Finally, it’s currently 25% at Boots at the mo FYI… #justsayin
