Bitta trivia for ya luv – when given the choice, I’m far more of a brunch go-er than an afternoon tea do-er. (Obvz I’ll happily hang at either, but to be honest crustless sambos are what they are, you know?!)
I did however, enjoy the most gin-ius of afternoon teas this week – way back on Monday, when an ghrian was ag scoilteadh na gcloch. We’re taking Tanqueray, we’re talking G and Teapots, we’re talking salted caramel macarons, we’re talking tacos. We’re talking the G & Tea offering from Intercontinental, Dublin. Em hello please, obsessed.
First things first, the hotel is v. gorgeous, v. plush, v. opulent. Apparently a casual €5mill has recently transformed it from the Four Seasons to the Intercontinental, and it’s a Betty.
Afternoon Tea is served either in the Lobby Lounge, or al fresco, weather depending. We dined in the Lobby Lounge before enjoying some May Day drinks in the sunshine, natch.
G & Tea comes served in the prettiest of hand painted bone fine china, along with cocktail teapots – all customisable thanks to the pipette flavourings on the side. Ginspirational! Food wise every tier was delicious – we left not a crumb behind us. Savages. I’ll let the menu do the talking (although the tacos and panna cotta comes highly recommended by yours truly)…
Can you cope?!
Along with the rest of the world, I’m gin obsessed at the moment. The Intercontinental have really hit the nail on the head with this one – it’s €30 well spent for some day time luxury. The drinks were divine, the food delicious, the service impeccable. I’m already making plans for multiple returns. It’s just the tonic.
